Eventbrite fees in Canada, and how to run event signups on your own site

October 11, 2026 · Ravalak Web Solutions, Airdrie, Alberta

Eventbrite is free for free events. For paid tickets, its Canadian pricing page lists a service fee of 3.7% + $1.79 per ticket and 2.9% payment processing per order. Here is what that means in practice.

A worked example

On a $40 ticket, the service fee is about $3.27 (3.7% of $40 plus $1.79). Payment processing of 2.9% on the order adds roughly another $1.25. That is around $4.50 a ticket, paid by your guest by default or by you if you choose to absorb it. Check your own Eventbrite dashboard for exact figures.

If you take payment directly through Stripe on your own site instead, the card fee in Canada is typically 2.9% + 30 cents, about $1.46 on the same ticket, and there is no platform fee on top.

When Eventbrite is worth it

  • You need strangers to discover your event in Eventbrite’s marketplace.
  • You sell large volumes of public tickets and want their apps and integrations.

When your own website makes more sense

  • Your guests are your clients, members or community, and they already know you.
  • You run events regularly and the fees add up.
  • You want the signup page to match your brand, and the guest list to stay in your own system.
